About Harold J. Love & Associates

Harold Love served 25 years with the Michigan State Police (MSP), before retiring as a captain in 2013.  During his tenure as captain, he served as commander of the 2nd District, comprised of over 350 personnel working at multiple work sites and multi-jurisdictional special enforcement teams covering 6 counties in Southeast Michigan.  Throughout his career, Love served in different ranks and positions at worksites throughout southern lower Michigan, including incident commander and public information officer for dozens of critical incidents, planned events, and high-profile investigations, developing a reputation as a trusted leader among public safety and private sector partners.

Harold learned early in his career the benefits and necessity of mental health services after going through a few critical incidents on the job. With the help of the department's psychologist, he was able to overcome the impact of those incidents and have a fulfilling 25-year career. While going through the ranks, Harold became a strong advocate for mental health services and learned how grossly underserved members of the public safety profession are in the area of mental health services. In 2011, he made the decision to obtain the education, specialized training, and state license to become a qualified, mental health, professional and provide these essential services.

Harold J. Love, PLLC doing business as Harold J. Love & Associates (HJLA) is a domestic professional limited liability company licensed to operate in the State of Michigan. HJLA was founded in December of 2014 by retired Michigan State Police (MSP) Capt. Harold J. Love to provide a full range of clinical mental health and wellness services to public safety professionals. Organizations invest significant amounts of time, money, and personnel resources into selecting the right candidates for vacant positions. Our mental health professionals have an in-depth understanding of the public safety culture and clinical credentials to help organizations ensure selected candidates are free of mental, emotional, and psychological instability.
